ATOKAITA2001 is an attempt to travel back in time and resurrect Lithuanian pop songs from the 2000s. Through leitmotifs of escapism, exploration, holiday romance and heartbreak, the album is a journey into a subset of nation’s sonic history in light of contemporary soundscapes. Filled with references to cultural phenomena and angst of the first decade of the new millennium, eclectic and endearing, ATOKAITA2001 is a hook onto the sentimental past evoking hope and optimism towards the future.

Modern Online and Simon Jean-Chic unite their creative powers while transcending the dissonances of concept and style. Reluctant to dogmatise the structural canons of music, through unembellished, unvarnished compositions, the duo is set to waterboard the listener into nostalgic interpretations of the indecently forgotten Lithuanian popular culture; a wander imbibed with lust, Palanga beach, and turbulent lived realities.
